"I DON'T WANT TO!"

In the words of my 4 year old daughter who began saying “I DON’T WANT TO!” at the age of 3….imagine!

Can you see how nerve wrecking it is to hear daily “I DON’T WANT TO!” when you are attempting to instruct, guide and assist a little person? In the midst of my frustration with getting a strong-willed child out of the house so that I may get to work on time, it hit me…sometimes I am like this with God. He may ask me to do something and I say “I DON’T WANT TO!” And what He is asking me to do is going to help me not harm me, but in that moment I simply do not feel like doing it.

We can pause and chew on that!

I began to have more compassion for my daughter because God began to show me how He loves me through my moments. Sometimes we need a reminder that we are not alone in this journey called life. He delivers sweet reminders through those around us. In this case it is my daughter. Now I respond to her “I DON’T WANT TO!” with it will help you and you may not understand today, but you will one day.

What are you saying “I DON’T WANT TO!” to? How long will you remain in that space? What are the barriers to you moving forward?
