Time Out
Have you ever considered putting yourself in a time out?!? No, seriously. You feel like there is a lot going on in your life and you just need a time out. A chair to sit in. Maybe even a couch to lounge on.
Let's go down memory lane. I remember when I was on the volleyball team in high school and my coach noticed our team was getting tired because we were making a lot of mistakes. I mean just messing up. She would call for a time out to give us a pep-talk which was more like "get your stuff together. You know what to do and get your head back in the game and here is a sip of water. Now go win! Don't mess up our winning streak." I use to think she was being harsh. In hind sight she was holding us accountable for being winners and holding us to a high standard.
We had practiced for hours, ran many laps and did several drills to prepare ourselves to compete. Because we put in much work and training, she didn't allow us to give her excuses or choose to quit. Especially, when we were tired. Instead she encouraged us to pull through and play as a team. Flash forward. Recently, I have felt like saying time out. While feeling like I need a time out. There is a song that's been ministering to my soul; Trust in You by Anthony Brown and Group Therapy. This song starts by saying, You did not create me to worry, you did not create me to fear. But you created me to worship daily. So I will leave it all right here. I am no longer in high school and playing volleyball but I have been wanting to say "Time Out." Just five minutes, PLEASE! Ladies have you ever felt like an octopus, with so many tentacles. These tentacles are growing at God's speed. For once you can say you didn't put your hands in multiple projects or roles in life, for this is the place God has you. That's where I am. I am stretching. Stretching, expanding and feeling octopus-like. In the midst of remembering to whom much is given much is required. Well I am there! This song Trust in You reminds me that He didn't create me to worry or fear. But I will trust in Him. Obey Him as he expands me, stretch me and mature me on this journey. On a daily basis God and I talk and I often find myself asking for strategy to accomplish what He has given me. I do not have to figure it out because He's the gift giver and has the instructions on how I need to proceed. So when you feel like calling a "Time Out" remember that you are growing, stretching and expanding so you can be ready for your next level.
