There is PURPOSE in the Mundane
Yesterday God gave me clarity on purpose that I had not spoken about before. There is purpose in the mundane. I have meditated on this statement in the past 24 hours. Begin to reflect on what it really means.
The dictionary states mundane to mean lacking in interest or excitement; dull.
There is purpose in the mundane.
If you have been on the journey seeking your purpose in life or simply your purpose in this season, God probably has met you with something that is NOT so exciting. It doesn’t move you to action and you do not want to do it. Why? Because it is not what you thought.
I have come to address you today to share that purpose is not always glittery, sexy nor front and center. It can be the background work, the grunt work, the everyday consistency that is needed to build a thing. For instance if you are on a health journey, and you normally do not drink water daily let alone throughout the day; you may have learned that drinking water will help you to remain hydrated, lose pounds and have mental clarity. Would you do it? There is purpose in the mundane. As time passes you begin to notice a change in your body, but this only comes with seeing purpose in the daily habits.
God is calling us to do the things that we find no interest in because it is a part of our purpose. According to the dictionary purpose is the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.
What were you created to do in this season?
Are you the caregiver for a loved one?
Are you pregnant and taking care of your health while preparing to birth a life?
Are you a student seeking to be on the dean’s list?
Are you single and focused on thriving in your singleness?
Are you a wife and learning more about your spouse?
Are you a mom nurturing your children and training them to be who they were created to be?
Are you seeking a career change and need to update your resume?
At this very moment you may not find interest in where you are, but there is purpose in the mundane.
How does one have a strong family if we do not spend intentional time together?
How does one lose weight if we do not commit to regular exercise and change our eating habits?
How does one build a business without having a plan?
There is purpose in the mundane. There is great reward for the faithful. It is time to focus on what is in front of you as you build towards the God given vision for your life.
