Getting Back to the Basics
2020 has revealed many lessons for me. One I would like to highlight is getting back to the basics in relationships. There was once a time you could go out, celebrate a friend’s birthday, attend church, and even go to work. You could be around people and not even know them. We could exchange greetings of hellos and how are yous, as we continue to walk away not even awaiting a response sometimes.
2020 has shown me a greater depth to the power of dialogue either via phone, zoom, FaceTime and text exchanges. In order to say you know someone, we must get to know them right?! I was able to get back to the basics in relationship building and maintenance by pure dialogue, asking questions, laughing, praying and shedding a few tears too. Wow!
I did not have to go anywhere, the simple use of technology and reaching out to schedule time to chat was it.
I want to challenge you to get back to the basics in your relationships and even develop new ones. I have discovered people being very open to virtual coffee or if you are a tea drinker like myself, virtual tea.
How do we accomplish the purpose for ourselves?
It is through people, relationships and getting to know one another.
Take an inventory of those in your contacts. Have you reached out to say hello and check in lately? If the answer is yes, GREAT, let’s keep the momentum. If the answer is no, why not?
You know God uses people to answer prayers right? But if you are living a closed life, how can He get to you? Open your heart again. Enjoy the company of another again. Pray for wisdom in your relationships. Ask God to connect you to the people for your life. He is a prayer answering God.
What will you do this week? How will you challenge yourself with getting back to the basics?
